Hello everyone! I saw this quote today while surfing the web and was absolutely mesmerized by it:
"The Soul becomes dyed with the color of it's thoughts." - Marcus Aurelius, 121 AD It just struck me, like an arrow through my heart, that the basis of my message, "Thoughts Become Things," is exactly that of a man that lived 1,895 years ago. And man, did he live! He was one of the most respected Emperors of Rome in history, and the last of the so-called Five Good Emperors. "The Soul becomes dyed with color..." Such a beautiful way to describe how we "mask" our Soul by doing and saying things that aren't in alignment with who we truly are. Of course you have the free will to do what ever you please without fear of retribution (regardless of what religion teaches), but it wont go unnoticed by your Soul. Your Soul is here to feel every feeling and live through all your emotions so it can experience itself through you. It longs to experience every thing it can, for in the realm of the absolute, it "knows" it exists, but that's all. It has to come here to the realm of the "relative" in order to truly experience itself. Which, in essence is you experiencing yourself. The thoughts we have control how we feel, which controls how we act, which in turn controls the results we get in our lives. Ultimately, the thoughts we choose or how we "color" our thoughts, will determine our outcomes. Both on an Earthly and Divine scale. Are you coloring your Soul with dark thoughts about yourself, others or society? Or are you laying a beautiful tapestry of color over your Soul? You have been givien the power to change your thoughts. In an instant one can go from thoughts of fear, violence and terror to thoughts of love, compassion and joy. Just think back to when you were a baby, before the world programmed you to think a certain way. Image yourself in your mother's warm and caring arms, smiling and laughing as your mother gently tickles you. She smiles down upon you as a small tear forms in the corner of her eye. She, and you, can feel the bond of love growing stronger as she lovingly hears your first giggles. Are you smiling yet? Did you forget about the big, bad world for a moment? I bet you did. You have been given the power to rule over your dominion. Take it. GRAB IT! Think the thoughts that will color your Soul with wide eyed appreciation of all that exists. Your Soul, and Marcus Aurelius, will be glad you did. You've been listening to the Soul Mechanic, and it's been my absolute pleasure to serve you. Sending you Love, Happiness, and, Abundance, now, and always. Bye for now! Hello everyone! Many of us are control freaks. I say this because we always seem to want things to go just the way we want them to, and when they don't, look out!
Control, or at least "perceived" control, is the cause of so much suffering in our world today. Life would be so much easier if people would just accept the fact that we are rarely in control of anything. We plan and "take charge" of the situation, but are we really in control? I would venture to say that we are in control less than 1% of the time, yet we perceive ourselves to be in control almost all of the time. You only really have control over three things in your life; the thoughts you think, the words you speak, and the actions you take. That's it, that's all. Oh sure, you may think (pardon the pun) you have control over all things going on around you, but do you? Your walking down the street, feeling confident and in control, after all, you just got that promotion at work and you're ready to celebrate. Suddenly you get a phone call from your boss asking you to come back to work because she needs your help. Loss of control. Here comes the stress. Most of our stress and anxiety are cause by a perceived notion that we are in control and then finding out that indeed we're not. Stress and anxiety don't' exist in the physical world, by the way. If I asked you to go out and bring me back a bucket of stress or anxiety, could you do it? Of course not. Because they aren't a physical entity. Problem is, we treat them as if they are! However, where they do exist is in our emotions, and our feelings. And since we are emotional beings this hits us extremely hard. I believe that over 90% of our feelings of stress and anxiety are due to a perceived loss of control. Perceived because if you take the time to reflect on it, we never had control to begin with, so how could we lose it? Since we are in control of our thoughts, and thoughts do indeed become things, why can't we just relax a little and instead of thinking about all we must accomplish, just focus on who we need to become in order to accomplish those tasks. If I choose to be a happy person, I could do it in an instant because happiness is a state of being. It's not a state of having, so there is no way for me to lose control. I just tell myself I am a happy person, then continue to think thoughts, speak words, and perform actions that make me happy. No loss of control, because I never felt I had to be in control in the first place, I was simply just being me. I know this sounds a little over-simplified, but simplicity is something we should all strive to have more of in our lives. Remember, the thoughts you think today plant the seeds for your reality tomorrow. You've been listening to the Soul Mechanic, and it's been my absolute pleasure to serve you. Sending you Love, Happiness, and, Abundance, now, and always. Have a great weekend! Bye for now! Hello everyone! I want to talk a little about "Intention" today, but first a quote from Carlos Castaneda -
"In the Universe there is an immeasurable, indescribable force which shamans call intent, and absolutely everything that exists in the entire cosmos is attached to intent by a connecting link." Intention - a strong purpose or aim, accompanied by a determination to produce a desired result. That's what most of us think when we think of intention. Although an apt definition, it really only works for those stuck in the physical aspects of this world. For a more spiritual definition, I offer you this one, again from Carlos Castaneda: "Intent is a force that exists in the Universe. When sorcerers (those who live of the Source) beckon intent, it comes to them and sets up the path for attainment, which means that sorcerers always accomplish what they set out to do." So instead of intention being something we "do", intention is a force that exists in the Universe as an invisible field of energy! Imagine this field of energy that's available to all of us, all the time. How cool is that! When we are open to this field of intention coming into our lives, it helps us create our "desires." Our desires cause us to focus in on the things that are important to us, which brings more "attention" to them. Ultimately, all this attention then causes what we desire to "manifest" in our lives. And it all started with a little thing called intention. All you presently have in your life has sprung from this intention. Here's the sequence of how this happens : - Intention, which causes - Desire, which causes - Attention, which causes - Manifestation, which creates - Your Life. Now imagine what you can manifest into your life knowing what you know now. Your life has just become limitless! You need only access the field of intention to start the process. It begins with your awareness of yourself as something greater than yourself, and being one with this field of intention. The key is to drop this idea of separation, that we're all separate from each other. We are not separate, no matter how hard our countries, races, or religions try to tell us we are. Indeed there is only one, and it's called "Us." Once we grab hold of that thought, that we are all one, we have all come from the same source, we will become inspired (in-spirit) and our whole world will change. My hope is that by reading or listening to spiritual teachings such as this, that you will become inspired to make a difference in your life, which will in turn make a difference in the world. The words from Patanjali over 20 centuries ago may help you view intention in a new way and help you redefine yourself: "Dormant forces, faculties, and talents come alive and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be." You've been listening to the Soul Mechanic, and it's been my absolute pleasure to serve you. Sending you Love, Happiness, and, Abundance, now, and always. Bye for now! Hello everyone and Happy Friday! I have a confession to make. I am an Alchemist. For those of you who don't know, an Alchemist is someone that attempts to transmute base metals, such as lead, into gold. They are also in search of a potion that can provide eternal youth.
OK, so I don't really physically try to do these things, but metaphorically I do, we all do. Paulo Coelho wrote a wonderful book in the late '80's entitled "The Alchemist," which I highly recommend you read. In it, you'll find a young shepherd boy on a quest to Egypt to find a treasure. Along the way he meets an alchemist and finds out that the real treasure is what's inside himself. Isn't that really what we're all doing? We're really on an expedition to find things. Some of us never graduate beyond finding a way to make a living, and reside ourselves to the fact life is short, we can't do anything about it, and although we hate our lives, fear the end of them. Others have taken the time to slow down and listen to their Souls. Listening to that inner voice they have discovered that life isn't just about chasing someone else's version of a dream, but to follow there own North Star, their own dreams and desires. In this regard, they are Alchemists. Knowing that taking a few risks is far safer in the long run than conforming to someone else's idea of a "safe" life. In the Alchemist, the Alchemist states to the young boy, "Those who don't understand their Personal Legends will fail to comprehend their teachings." Your Personal Legend is just a different way to say your true-Self, the real reason you're here. You've been given tools to help you along your journey, the best one being "Thoughts become things." What you think about you bring about. It's so darn simple, but it's not easy. Therein lies the rub. Only a handful of you will make the concentrated effort to shape your life with your thoughts. Nothing could be simpler really, you're thinking all the time anyway, in fact you can never turn it off. So why not think of things that you want in your life, instead of the latest crap you saw on CNN, most of which is either fabricated or at the very least embellished. In "The Alchemist" there is one main theme that reoccurs throughout the novel, "When a person really desires something, all the Universe conspires to help that person to realize his dream." The question now is, are you going to play it "safe" and live out someone else's version of a dream? Or will you join me in becoming an Alchemist, and turn our little lumps of lead that we've been given, and searching inward instead of outward, change them into glorious mounds of gold? You've been listening to the Soul Mechanic, and it's been my absolute pleasure to serve you. Sending you Love, Happiness, and, Abundance, now, and always. Bye for now! |
