OK, so I don't really physically try to do these things, but metaphorically I do, we all do. Paulo Coelho wrote a wonderful book in the late '80's entitled "The Alchemist," which I highly recommend you read. In it, you'll find a young shepherd boy on a quest to Egypt to find a treasure. Along the way he meets an alchemist and finds out that the real treasure is what's inside himself.
Isn't that really what we're all doing? We're really on an expedition to find things. Some of us never graduate beyond finding a way to make a living, and reside ourselves to the fact life is short, we can't do anything about it, and although we hate our lives, fear the end of them. Others have taken the time to slow down and listen to their Souls. Listening to that inner voice they have discovered that life isn't just about chasing someone else's version of a dream, but to follow there own North Star, their own dreams and desires.
In this regard, they are Alchemists. Knowing that taking a few risks is far safer in the long run than conforming to someone else's idea of a "safe" life. In the Alchemist, the Alchemist states to the young boy, "Those who don't understand their Personal Legends will fail to comprehend their teachings." Your Personal Legend is just a different way to say your true-Self, the real reason you're here.
You've been given tools to help you along your journey, the best one being "Thoughts become things." What you think about you bring about. It's so darn simple, but it's not easy. Therein lies the rub. Only a handful of you will make the concentrated effort to shape your life with your thoughts. Nothing could be simpler really, you're thinking all the time anyway, in fact you can never turn it off. So why not think of things that you want in your life, instead of the latest crap you saw on CNN, most of which is either fabricated or at the very least embellished.
In "The Alchemist" there is one main theme that reoccurs throughout the novel, "When a person really desires something, all the Universe conspires to help that person to realize his dream."
The question now is, are you going to play it "safe" and live out someone else's version of a dream? Or will you join me in becoming an Alchemist, and turn our little lumps of lead that we've been given, and searching inward instead of outward, change them into glorious mounds of gold?
You've been listening to the Soul Mechanic, and it's been my absolute pleasure to serve you. Sending you Love, Happiness, and, Abundance, now, and always.
Bye for now!
